Supergirl‘s Milly Alcock has landed the lead role in a “fresh and outrageous” new dark comedy.
According to Deadline, Thumb tells the story of a lonely woman whose mundane life is changed when she receives a severed thumb in the post.
The woman, played by Alcock, is determined to return the mysterious thumb back to its rightful hand. But her self-appointed mission takes her on an unexpected journey.
The movie is written by Cesar Vitale and will be directed by Tuesday’s Daina Oniunas-Pusić, with filming set to begin this Autumn in New York.
Star Trek: Strange New World boss Akiva Goldsman and Greg Lessans will serve as producers under Weed Road Pictures, while Richard, Brooke and Annie Saperstein will produce for Bluestone Entertainment alongside Beau Turpin.

Alcock most recently appeared in Netflix’s drama series Sirens, where she played Simone DeWitt, the preppy personal assistant to enigmatic billionaire Michaela Kell (Julianne Moore).
Simone’s organised life is thrown into chaos by the arrival of her sister Devon (Meghann Fahy), who is disturbed by the intense and controlling relationship between Simone and her boss.
Meanwhile, the actor also made a brief cameo in the James Gunn Superman reboot, as Clark’s cousin Kara (aka Supergirl). The character’s appearance set the stage for her own movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which has already begun filming in the UK.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set for release on June 26, 2026.
