Survivor fans are used to seeing contestants squirm under the sun during challenges, but on the latest episode of the CBS reality competition, it was host Jeff Probst who looked like he was ready to pass out. Teeny Chirichillo also commented, “Thinking of you and your family. I’m so sorry.”

A cause of death was not publicly shared at the time of publication, and Jeff has not publicly commented on his brother’s death.

Jeff, the oldest of three brothers, collaborated with Scott on Survivor, with the youngest sibling serving as an art assistant from 2006 to 2008 and as a cameraman from 2011 to 2012, per his IMDb page.

Jeff, for his part, has been the host of Survivor since the 2000 premiere. The show is currently celebrating its 50th season, with fan-favorites like Mike White, Cirie Fields, Ozzy Lusth, Savannah Louie and Dee Valladares trying their hand at another shot at the title of Survivor.

Robert Voets/CBS Jeff Probst has seen his fair share of tribal councils since Survivor premiered 23 years ago — and it hasn’t gotten old. “There’s a phrase I said to myself years ago that stayed with me — which is one of the things I learned from Survivor — everybody has a story,” Probst, 61, […]

“I mean, my blood is in this show, right? I literally bled for this show for nearly three decades,” Jeff exclusively shared with Us Weekly ahead of the Survivor 50 premiere in February. “But 100 percent, this is not me saying something politically correct. The show should last forever, because the format is just an incredible format.”

Jeff went on to acknowledge that he may not be able to participate in every iteration of the show, which sees a group of castaways competing against each other in a series of challenges in the hopes of winning the $1 million grand prize.

“We stay inside the tiny little box that is the format of Survivor, but once you step inside that tiny little box, you realize the space is enormous,” Jeff explained. “You can try all kinds of things. So, for instance, if you hired a different type of person to host, and then you brought in a different type of person to produce, and you took their different points of view, it seems likely that the show would go in a completely different direction.”

He continued, “I really do think it goes on, and I hope that even if I’m not hosting, maybe there’s a way I can, you know, still be involved because I love this show.”
