Susan Boyle has revealed she receives fan mail from “some men who like to think I fancy them”, in an interview on STV Radio.
The multi-million-selling singer joined presenters Laura Boyd and Emma Cameron on their What’s On Scotland radio show, where she admitted that the flirty fan mail doesn’t impress her, saying: “At my age, I don’t have the strength.”
Susan also opened up about the stroke she suffered in 2022 and how support from the public has helped her recovery.
She said: “I’m very humbled by the public. They’ve been very friendly, very accepting.
“I wasn’t too well – I had a stroke for a wee while there – but I’ve got over most of it. Some people think I sound as if I’m drunk, but I’m not.
“I was [seriously ill] but I’m back on it now. They couldn’t shut me up for long enough!
“[The fans] mean a lot to me in that they’ve given me the encouragement to go on. Even when things have been really bad, they’ve been writing to me, some of them, so the support that I have has been quite moving.”
Fresh from appearing in popular ad campaigns for Cornetto and Irn Bru this summer, Susan revealed she’s been working with Diane Warren – the Grammy-winning songwriter behind Cher’s ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’ and Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ – on new music.
Susan’s last album was released in 2016.
She said: “I’ve been in the recording studio doing a couple of things for Diane Warren. She’s a composer, and I hope to go over to LA sometime to see her. It’s in the pipeline, but I’ll take my time.
“It’s very nice that I can take my time because I’m a perfectionist – I like to get things right.”
