Since confirming their relationship in early 2025, Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster haven’t exactly won over the Greatest Showman star’s friends. His close friend Nicole Kidman has allegedly made it clear she’s not interested in spending time with Foster, and now it seems that another one of Jackman’s longtime friends isn’t on the best terms with the Tony-winning actress either.
Halle Berry has been friends with Jackman for decades, with a source telling Globe in July 2026 that she’s his “closest friend among all the leading ladies he has worked with since the turn of the century, [and] the loyalty goes both ways.”
The insider added, “Halle isn’t very personally close to a lot of male actors she has worked with, but Hugh is the big exception there, and they absolutely have plans to do more work together.”
Jackman’s ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, reportedly supported his friendship with Berry and even “cheered on this dynamic.” However, Foster isn’t willing to do the same. According to the insider, Foster has “zero interest” in befriending Berry, supposedly because she’s “a somewhat less confident and more insecure person than Deb ever was.”
“Sure, Sutton has chops for days when it comes to performing onstage … But behind the scenes she can be as nervous and insecure as a high school girl,” the source explained. Still, the Younger actress needs to “come to grips with the fact that Halle is going to be part of Hugh’s world no matter what, and she needs to act accordingly to win Halle’s approval and friendship.”
Although that hasn’t happened yet, Jackman remains “optimistic” that Foster and Berry “will find common ground, just like Deb and Halle managed to do all those years ago.”
As previously mentioned, Jackman’s friendship with Kidman has become strained due to his romance with Foster. In May 2026, one source told Woman’s Day that Kidman’s “loyalty has to be with Deb as she’s been a shoulder for her many times throughout the past three years.”
Kidman is also ready to help Deb “live her best life going forward” and attain a “post-divorce glow-up.” She even hopes that her own transformation following her divorce from Keith Urban will motivate Deb to feel more confident in this next chapter of her life.
“There’s no doubt Nicole took complete control of her divorce and came out of it triumphantly,” the insider noted. “She can’t bear to see her dear friend suffer any more than she has to, and she’s doing everything she can to get Deb back in charge.”
The source also claimed that Kidman will be there for Deb when she decides she’s ready to find love again. “They’re leaning on each other and with Nicole already booting up her dating life, it’s hard for Deb to not feel encouraged,” the insider stated. Even though Deb feels “nervous” about reentering the dating scene, Kidman’s “one of the key friends in her life helping her take that step.”
In addition to supporting Deb, sources say that Kidman hopes she and Jackman can eventually repair their friendship. At this time, she’s “not ready to start playing nice” with Foster because it’s “still too raw and way too soon,” but she’s hoping “things between Deb and Hugh will settle down over time and she doesn’t have to exclude him from her world for too long.”
“Hugh’s one of her favourite co-stars and was always so loyal to her and Keith,” the source said, “but until the situation’s more comfortable with Deb, Nicole’s staying away from Hugh and Sutton and any weddings they’re planning.”
