Law and Order: SVU may be on hiatus, but that doesn’t mean the cast isn’t in touch.
The hit NBC drama is set to come back for season 28 this fall, with Mariska Hargitay naturally at the forefront as Captain Olivia Benson. While she’s been on the air for so long, the actress is also doing something new by starring in the Broadway play, A Brilliant Thing, through July 5.
As Mariska enters her final weeks of Broadway performances, fans got to see her reunite with an SVU co-star who’s been in her orbit for over 25 years. Ice-T (who plays Fin Tutuola) and his wife, CoCo, got the chance to watch her onstage…and he let fans know just how much he appreciated seeing his friend broaden her horizons.
“Went to see Mariska in her Broadway Show, @brilliantbway,” Ice-T wrote on X alongside backstage photos of the duo together. “I’ve known Mariska for over 26 years now, and everything she does is so amazing 👏. But watching her on stage was a sight to see!! I somehow made it in the show! If you haven’t done so, make sure you check it out…She’s only doing it for a short time before SVU starts back up again!!”
Given how it’s been some time since we’ve seen Mariska and Ice-T together, fans couldn’t get over the reunion online.
“Legends supporting legends,” one account wrote in the comments. “There isn’t anything Mariska can’t do! I was lucky enough to see her twice, and she is amazing on that stage!” another agreed. “Love you both so much! OGs ❤️❤️,” a different follower added.
How sweet is this friendship? And luckily for Mariska, Ice-T wasn’t the only SVU star embracing her newfound Broadway career.
In addition to Ice-T, Christopher Meloni (who plays Elliot Stabler) also saw Mariska in A Brilliant Thing. And naturally, he had something to say about her new gig, too.
“Checked out a pal on BWay. Well done @therealmariskahargitay,” he wrote on Instagram on June 4. “She brought a freshness to the part—and I know, cuz I double checked—it’s what partners do! Someone needs a Tony to add to their collection.”
