The Swedish Royal Family turned out in force at the Nobel Prize Awards ceremony last night as they hope to put the drama of the last few days behind them.
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia‘s united front with their children Crown Princess Victoria, 48, Prince Carl Philip, 46, and Princess Madeleine, 43, in Stockholm, comes after Princess Sofia was caught up in the scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein.
The former glamour model, 41, met the paedophile billionaire several times before marrying Sweden’s prince, the country’s Royal Family disclosed this week.
Before exchanging vows with Carl Philip in 2015 and becoming princess of Sweden, Sofia Hellqvist was a reality television star, glamour model and a regular face on the New York party circuit – and met with the disgraced financier multiple times in 2005.
At one point, Epstein sent an invitation offering for the princess to visit him on his private island in the Caribbean, according to leaked emails published by the nonprofit site ddosecrets.com and reported in Swedish outlet Dagens Nyheter.
Epstein also offered the princess and her friend places at acting school, the newspaper claimed.
According to the family, the princess did not accept the invitation to Epstein’s infamous US Virgin Islands home called Little St James, where multiple young women including the late Virginia Giuffre have alleged that they were trafficked and abused.
They also emphasised that the meeting was many years ago and the royal had not met with Epstein for more than two decades.

The palace told Dagens Nyheter: [She] has been introduced to the person in question on a few occasions around 2005. The princess has not had any contact with the person in question for 20 years.’
The family did not indicate whether it was true that Princess Sofia received the financier’s offer for acting school.
‘Princess Sofia has neither applied for nor attended any form of acting training,’ the royal family said.
But the Swedish Royal Family appeared to keep calm and carry on as they attended last night’s annual events in Stockholm.
However Princess Sofia skipped the prize-giving, with the palace saying the former model was taking care of her daughter Princess Ines, who was born February 7, 2025.
Meanwhile, Princess Victoria, who attended yesterday’s occasion alongside her husband Prince Daniel, made a touching tribute to her mother by wearing a black and white Jacques Zehnder evening gown she wore back in 1994.
Silvia, 81, first debuted the geometric gown at the Nobel Prize Awards Banquet 30 years ago.
She paired the asymmetrical, strapless gown with the glittering Baden Fringe tiara, a 19th-century family heirloom that she has worn on dozens of occasions since 2001.

The Nobel Prize is awarded every year on December 10 to commemorate the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death, and acknowledges the brightest minds in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, and literature.
At the ceremony, each laureate is presented with a description of their accomplishments before the King gives them a diploma and medal.
