President Donald Trump welcomed the 2025 Kennedy Center Honorees to the Oval Office on Saturday for a medal ceremony held earlier in the day.
The recipients included actor Sylvester Stallone, singer Gloria Gaynor, country artist George Strait, Kiss, and actor-singer Michael Crawford.
“A friend of mine, a wonderful person, a really spectacular person, one of the true great movie stars. Sylvester “Sly” Stallone. Thank you,” Trump said while honoring Stallone.
Trump, who previously distanced himself from the Kennedy Center and its annual awards during his first term, has returned to the tradition with significant changes.
Since retaking office in January, he replaced the Kennedy Center’s board of trustees with political allies and assumed the position of chairman himself.
