Sylvester Stallone to Exec Produce ‘John Rambo’ Prequel Movie

Sylvester Stallone has signed on to executive produce John Rambo, the origin story feature about the character the Hollywood action star initially played in 1982’s First Blood, Lionsgate said Monday.

“Sylvester Stallone knows the character of John Rambo better than anyone, and Lionsgate has had the good fortune of partnering with Sly for more than 20 years on this legendary IP. His participation is the final, critical piece to John Rambo, and we’re thrilled to have his involvement,” Adam Fogelson, chair of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said in a statement.

The latest feature in the revived Rambo franchise has started production in Bangkok, Thailand. Noah Centineo, who stars in Street Fighter, leads the prequel directed by Jalmari Helander (Sisu).
