LAFAYETTE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Syracuse International Jazz Fest is hitting a new note this year for its 40th anniversary.
The event is moving to Beak & Skiff Apple Orchards in LaFayette this summer, Frank Malfitano, the festival’s founder, told NewsChannel 9 | LocalSYR.com.
“We had an invitation from Beak & Skiff that we couldn’t resist,” said Malfitano.
With a new location, comes a new lineup to match.
“We got a group coming in from London that’s amazing. We got another group coming in from New Orleans that’s amazing, and we have some returning people coming in, Trombone Shorty, Good Hill Carly, Nathan & The Zydeco Cha Chas and Tower of Power from Oakland,” said Malfitano.
The festival is also getting a new spot on the calendar, moving to July 9 through July 12.
“Everything is really new this year. It’s an all new look for us and we’re really excited about it,” said Malfitano.
Eddie Brennan, president of Beak & Skiff, said the orchard’s concert venue has seen just about every genre, but jazz will take center stage for the first time.
“I think it’s going to bring a different customer up to the farm, it’s going to be amazing to see the energy that that brings,” said Brennan.
As always, admission is free.
