Well, it’s official! The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul was named the newest Bachelorette. If you are still digesting this epic news, you are not alone. However, now that Taylor is prepping to hand out those roses and make some dirty soda toasts, she is predicting how her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, will take the news. I’m guessing not well.
Of course, Taylor’s rocky relationship with her ex-boyfriend and baby daddy played out on both Seasons 1 and 2 of Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The couple officially split during the second season. They share one son, Ever True.
Taylor Frankie Paul is the next Bachelorette
Taylor’s funny TikTok audition to become the next Bachelorette must have worked. However, now that she has been cast, she has some logistics to work out. And as for Dakota?
“I have not confirmed it with him,” Taylor told US Weekly. “It’s just not something that’s been on, like, my priority list to confirm with him. I don’t know exactly how he’ll react or feel, but he does know that we opened the gates of dating other people.”
The mom of three continued, “[He’ll] probably [be] sad. I assume that it’s like, ‘Whoa, she’s gonna be dating people, a lot, and then also, in front of me,’ and that’s probably gonna be kind of hard to watch.” I would think so. Taylor added, “I can’t speak for him, but I’d assume it wouldn’t be the best news he’s heard on that day.”
Initially, Taylor’s family wanted her to make her relationship with Dakota work. However, they are now on board with the couple’s decision to split. “It was the smartest decision I’ve made [to] part ways and close that chapter and start a new one,” Taylor explained. “So they’ve been very on board, for sure.”
The Bachelorette Season 22 will air on ABC sometime in 2026, and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives returns for Season 3 on November 13, 2025, on Hulu.
