Taylor Swift‘s new album The Life of a Showgirl drops on Oct. 3—and a new billboard in Times Square featuring lyrics from the album is dividing Swifties on social media.
On Tuesday, Sept. 30, a Reddit post featured a photo of the massive sign seemingly sporting lyrics to an unknown song from Swift’s 12th studio album. It read, “Oftentimes it doesn’t feel so glamorous to be me.”

In the comments, many Swift fans were excited by the sneak peek at the upcoming songs. One Reddit user wrote, “This one lyric basically describes the whole album for me. I’m so here for this.”
Another shared, “NEW LYRICS AHH. It hits so GOOD. Hits different.”
Someone else pointed out, “A friend once told me that if you pull the curtain back on any so-called glamorous industry, it’s just a bunch of tired, overworked people with too much coffee and cigarettes. I think about that often.”
Meanwhile, a different Reddit user declared, “Ooooh, love it! I love depressing themes in songs with upbeat instrumentals. I’m so excited for this album!!”

However, in another Reddit thread, fans criticized the message for being out of touch.
One commenter wrote, “Let’s all cry for the rich billionaire. Her life must be so hard. It’s hard to gain sympathy with that lyric,” as a second agreed, writing, “Right. Like I don’t want another song about how unbearable fame is. Stop girl.”
Someone else shared, “Even if it’s followed up by a cheeky lyric acknowledging the fun of her life I’m kind of tired of this lazy acknowledgment of fame being a prison like she doesn’t love it lol. Her RI house alone is my rent a thousand times over.”
Yet another critic pointed out, “Doing this in NYC where there’s a rampant case of homelessness and famous for being almost unliveable for normal folks is definitely something.”

What Time Does ‘Life of a Showgirl’ Release on Oct. 3?
On Friday, Oct. 3, The Life of a Showgirl releases at 12 a.m. ET, followed by the official release party film kicking off at 3 p.m. ET in theaters only. At 5:40 p.m. ET, Swift will appear on The Graham Norton Show.
Additionally, the pop superstar, 35, will appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at 11:35 p.m. ET on Monday, Oct. 6, followed by an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers at 12:35 a.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 9.
