Taylor Swift is unstoppable. The “Life of a Showgirl” singer just announced a new project, her latest album broke the modern-era single-week album sales record, and now she’s even toppled a 60-year-old stat previously held by The Beatles. All that, and she still manages to find time to support fiancé Travis Kelce as the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Detroit Lions.
Swift Makes History with Seven Songs in United World Top 10
The World Music Awards shared a post on X/Twitter announcing that, for the first time in history, an artist has scored seven songs in the United World Top 10. The 60-year-old record was previously held by The Beatles.
“#Taylorswift is on Top of the World and in a league of her own! For the first time in history, an Artist scores 7 songs in the United World Top 10, breaking a record set over 60 years ago by the Beatles, who had 6 simultaneous Top 10 hits on the chart in week 14, 1964!
‘The Fate Of Ophelia’ debuts at No. 1, leading by far with 689,000 points, the most since Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’ (713,000 in 2023). It’s Taylor’s 9th Global No. 1 smash hit!
‘The Fate of Ophelia’ debuts with 567,000 points from streaming, 88,000 points from sales, and 34,000 points from Global Airplay. ‘Opalite’ lands at No. 2 with 439,000 points, ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ at No. 4 with 395,000 points, ‘Father Figure’ at No. 5 with 321,000 points, ‘Wood’ at No. 7 with 248,000 points, ‘Actually Romantic’ at No. 8 with 211,000, and ‘Cancelled!’ at No. 10 with 183,000 points.
‘Wi$h Li$t’ debuts at No. 14 with 152,000 points, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ ft. Sabrina Carpenter lands at No. 20 with 122,000 points, and ‘Eldest Daughter’ debuts at No. 35 with 90,000 points.
As per United World chart rules, only the 3 most successful songs from an album can appear with the full points, and the 4th song gets a 10% deduction, the 5th a 20% deduction, and the 6th a 30% one, etc. Without this rule, Taylor would be occupying all spots from No. 1 to No. 14, interrupted only by Huntr/x’s ‘Golden’ at No. 3 and Alex Warren’s ‘Ordinary’ at No. 13.
Taylor now has a total of 43 United World Top 10 hits, tying Elvis Presley and the best-selling Japanese girl group of all time, AKB48. Only Madonna has more No. 1 hits (47)!”
Fans React to Swift’s Historic Achievement
Fans were quick to comment with more stats in support of Swift’s chart-topping dominance.
“This is absolutely incredible! Taylor Swift just made history again — 7 songs in the United World Top 10 at the same time! That’s a record that hasn’t been touched in over 60 years, ever since The Beatles held it back in 1964 with 6 songs. The fact that ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ debuted at #1 with nearly 700,000 points, driven mostly by streaming, just shows how strong her global fanbase is and how much her music connects with listeners,” shared one fan.
Another offered, “Taylor just keeps making history! 7 songs in the global Top 10 at once — that’s unreal. She’s truly in a league of her own.”
