Getting married at Madison Square Garden on July 4 weekend is anything but a low-key move. So, there was always going to be some backlash to the plan, even if Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are two generally well-regarded celebrities. But reportedly, not all of the complaining is coming from the outside.
Hollywood insider Rob Shuter is reporting that guests to the wedding are worried about the itinerary and the scale of the celebration. Reportedly, it won’t just be a party, but a full-day event.

“We just want to go to a wedding,” one guest told Naughty But Nice. “Nobody needs a 10-hour event. At some point, it stops feeling like a celebration and starts feeling like an obligation.”
And reportedly, this is something a lot of the guests agree on.
“Everyone’s asking the same thing: Why does it have to be this long?” the source said. “Most weddings are simple—ceremony, dinner, dancing, then everyone heads home happy. This one comes with an itinerary that never seems to end.”
Plus, guests are apparently worried about the optics of bailing. “You can’t exactly be the person who leaves Taylor Swift’s wedding early,” the insider said. “Once you’re in, you’re in. You’re basically committing your entire day, so everyone is already figuring out how to pace themselves.”
An entire day of partying at Swift and Kelce’s expense doesn’t seem like a great chore.
“Everyone loves Taylor and Travis,” one source told Shuter, “No one’s complaining about celebrating them. We just want to watch them say ‘I do,’ see the kiss, enjoy the party, and spend time with friends. Sometimes the best weddings are the simplest ones.”
This comes after RadarOnline reported that Swift is facing criticism over reports she may perform at her own wedding. One insider said, “Most brides want to be the center of attention on their wedding day, but Taylor is already one of the most famous women in the world. The idea of her performing at her own reception is being viewed by some people as the ultimate egotistical wedding plan.”
Not everyone is against it, though. “There are guests who think it would be incredible entertainment, but others feel a wedding should be about celebrating the couple rather than staging another Taylor Swift show. It’s certainly getting people talking.”
The happy couple has done a lot to keep the details of the wedding under wraps. This reportedly includes not giving guests many details about the wedding, with people invited instructed to arrive in New York, without knowing when and where the wedding will be. And Rob Shuter reports that not everyone is happy about all these measures.
“It’s a wedding, not a Middle East peace summit,” a source told Naughty But Nice. “People have kids, jobs, businesses, and travel plans. They’re being asked to block off two full days and just wait for instructions. Guests are frustrated.”
“Taylor and Travis are taking the secrecy too far,” another insider said. “Everyone understands wanting privacy, but at some point it starts feeling like they don’t trust the very people they’re inviting.”
