The decision by Donald Trump’s PR team to use a Taylor Swift song to promote the Republican appears to have backfired, as a modified version of the same jingle, targeting the 47th US President in response, is now making rounds on the internet. The said parody video, which made use of Swift’s hit 2025 single “The Fate of Ophelia” to criticize Trump on multiple fronts, seems to have resonated with its intended audience, as the clip has now gone viral.

Taylor Swift’s parody response to Donald Trump goes viral

On November 5, the official YouTube channel of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert series posted a snippet from one of its ‘The Late Show Fake News Alert’ segments featuring a parodied response from Taylor Swift to Donald Trump.

The aforementioned clip first showcased a TikTok video, put together by a pro-Trump account, promoting the current administration. The comedy video then cut to a “reply from Swift” that featured an edited version of her “Fate of Ophelia” song. While the sketch made use of a portion of the track’s official video, it had altered lyrics, serving as a response to Trump’s TikTok clip.

“I saw your TikTok on my telephone, I’m surprised you used my song,” the reworked song read. It then called out the hypocrisy of Donald Trump supporters, who used a Taylor Swift song to further their agenda despite his public displeasure with the 14-time Grammy winner. The video stated, “I thought you hated me, but now we both can see, you’re just a sad wannabe Swiftie.”

“What’s going on with your hands, your feet, neck meat, your renovations are a scam, your skin like yams,” the song continued. It then threw shade at the recent political losses suffered by the Republican Party.

Meanwhile, the concluding lyrics of the song highlighted a Democratic win, a recent provision that helped the Democrats secure more seats, as well as images of several opposing governer elects. They read, “You suffered a defeat, could lose five seats, and witnessed the blue wave that you’ve been scared of. You better lawyer up.”

In less than a day, the said YouTube video has mustered over 264K views on the platform. Additionally, it has a healthy 12K likes count. As of writing, Donald Trump and Taylor Swift haven’t commented on the parody video.
