Taylor Swift revealed huge career news on Good Morning America less than two weeks after releasing her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
On Monday, Oct. 13, GMA announced that Swift was releasing a behind-the-scenes docuseries of her Eras Tour called The End of an Era. The first two episodes of the six-episode docuseries will drop on Disney+ on Friday, Dec. 12.
Additionally, she announced The Eras Tour: The Final Show, which will add The Tortured Poets Department set of her Eras Tour to her record-breaking Eras Tour concert film. The Eras Tour: The Final Show will also hit Disney+ on Dec. 12.
In the comments of an Instagram clip of the GMA announcement, Swifties shared their reactions to the upcoming docuseries and addition of TTPD to the Eras Tour film.
One Instagram user declared, “I’m so excited 🥹❤️🔥,” as someone else exclaimed, “OMFG!! I KNEW IT!!”
Another admitted, “The way I’m crying on a Monday morning.”
A different fan commented, “Screaming & crying 💖.”
Meanwhile, yet another Swiftie shared, “THIS IS WHAT WEVE BEEN WAITING FORRRR!!!! YES!!!!! IM SO EXCITED!!!!!!🥹😭😭❤️🔥🫶🏼.”
Swift took to Instagram after GMA announced the news to share the same promotional video and a message for fans.
“It was the End of an Era and we knew it,” the pop superstar, 35, captioned the update. “We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives, so we allowed filmmakers to capture this tour and all the stories woven throughout it as it wound down. And to film the final show in its entirety.”
On Sunday, Oct. 12, GMA teased the news on Instagram, sending Swifties into a frenzy with speculation over what it might be.
“TOMORROW: We’re keep it 💯 with an exclusive Taylor Swift announcement!” the ABC morning show teased. “Tune in ONLY on GMA!”
Over a clip of Swift’s “Fate of Ophelia” music video, a female announcer said, “She’s at it again. Taylor Swift, shattering records with the biggest album debut in history with over 4 million units. And now, tomorrow morning, GMA has a huge, new exclusive announcement on Taylor.”
The promo concluded, “So what’s next from her? Find out on Good Morning America.“
Swift’s big news came after The Life of a Showgirl and Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirlbroke streaming records and dominated the box office.
