A Los Angeles judge has granted Taylor Swift a five-year restraining order against a man she says repeatedly appeared at her home and insisted she was the mother of his son.
The order, issued Monday, Sept. 22, requires 45-year-old Brian Jason Wagner to stay at least 100 yards from Swift, her residence, her vehicle and her workplace, according to court documents obtained Tuesday, Sept. 23, by USA TODAY. Wagner is prohibited from contacting the singer in any way and must surrender any firearms, ammunition or body armor.
Swift wrote in her petition that the repeated incidents left her fearing for her safety and that of her family. She said she lived with “a fear of imminent harm” because of Wagner’s alleged visits and “concerning and threatening” messages to her and her staff.
Swift’s team did not reply to an email request for comment.
In June, the singer filed for a temporary restraining order and alleged that Wagner made false claims about living at her property, being in a relationship with her and fathering her child. She also said he attempted to divert her mail and successfully changed the address on his driver’s license to her residence. One of Swift’s security staffers, Alex Welch, said Wagner’s new California driver’s license was mailed to Swift’s home, which is how they were alerted.
Wagner, who according to the court documents lives in Colorado, did not appear at the Sept. 22 hearing.
Fans have noticed Swift is maintaining a lower profile at NFL games in support of Kansas City Chiefs tight end and fiancé Travis Kelce, in contrast to the past two years. More than half an hour after kick-off at this season’s only home game, fans captured a large portable security wall where she normally walks to the suite, obstructing a group of guests. Some cell phone videos captured her mother, brother and bodyguard walking alongside, but did not directly see the singer.
Swift has not been spotted at any away games, including the opener against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil or the Sept. 21 game against the New York Giants.
