Taylor Swiftappears to have another surprise in store for her fans.
Less than a week after announcing her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, the music superstar is teasing more big news involving her next “era.”
On Monday, Aug. 18, Swift’s official website once again featured a cryptic clock countdown—similar to the one that first appeared last week just hours before The Life of a Showgirl was announced.
This time, Swift’s site has been taken over by a sparkly lavender background, featuring nothing but a countdown that expires at 2:00 p.m. ET on Monday afternoon. (The last countdown featured a sparkly orange background that represents the glittering font color on the new album artwork.)
Swifties Can’t Calm Down Over Her Incoming Announcement
Fans of the “Cruel Summer” songstress instantly clocked the countdown on her website, which send the Swiftie internet community spiraling once again.
“I can’t get any sleep in this house” one fan joked on X (formerly Twitter) after hearing about the impending announcement from Swift, while another user lamented, “My bank account can’t take this.”
“I was supposed to get actual work done today. That’s out the window now,” someone else chimed in.
The popular fan X account Swift Alert also added, “Oh, here we go again.”
Other Swifties who were instantly sent spiraling over the news posted chaotic messages on X, like “OH MY DEAR GOD” and “NOT AGAIN.”
What Could the Announcement Be?
As for what exactly Swift might have under her sleeve this time around, her fans are divided.
Some fans instantly wondered if Swift, 35, is preparing to drop the lead single for the forthcoming new album, while others thought the countdown might be introducing new merch themed around The Life of a Showgirl.
“I hope it’s signed cds!!!” one user tweeted.
Other Swifties seem to think that the purple background is hinting at possible new vinyl variants for The Life of a Showgirl, specifically one that ties in the sparkly purple color scheme.
So far, Swift has only announced one version of the album on vinyl, which features the original album artwork. She did, however, introduce four different versions of the album on CD, one of which has a sparkly purple color scheme.
“Could it maybe be a vinyl variant? We have a cd that’s purple so it seems logical,” another user wrote.
