Over the past few weeks, local media has been buzzing over a cluster of Taylor Swift sightings in New York City. The speculation has been that the 36-year-old megastar must be in town to oversee preparations for her July 3 wedding to Travis Kelce.
But sources tell Page Six Hollywood that Swift is also preparing for a different Big Apple summer soiree that will take place weeks before her wedding to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. The “Love Story” artist is being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 11 and is planning to attend the ceremony with her family. Upping the ante, Swift will perform a song at the Broadway Marriott Marquis event as well, according to sources.
“It’s the hardest ticket to come by in the music biz,” says one insider. “The New York City fire marshals are all over the headcount.”
President and CEO Linda Moran has been working hard on the dinner with chairman Nile Rodgers, where inductees also include Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins and Kiss rockers Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. According to the invite, “festive attire” is recommended. Every attendee is clamoring for a plus-one to bring their daughters. But there’s a catch: “NO ADMITTANCE UNDER THE AGE OF 21,” the invite also warns.
No one expects the future Mrs. Kelce to mingle during the 6 p.m. cocktails. But given that the biggest music star in the world is poised to sing, there won’t be an empty seat come showtime at 8p.m. Also on the playlist will be “Bad Moon Rising” warbler John Fogerty, who is receiving the Johnny Mercer Award.
As for Swift, the “Cruel Summer” singer may need a follow-up single: “Busy Summer.”
