Taylor Swift is skipping the VMAs this year as she gears up for her new album release in October, The Life of a Showgirl. Instead of a much anticipated 2025 VMAs appearance, she might be preparing for some of her biggest acts yet.

Swift has been nominated for artist of the year, alongside Beyonce, Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga, and other valued artists. According to E! News, despite being nominated, she won’t attend the 2025 VMAs. The star remains in a tie with Beyonce for the most VMA wins (30 each). If the chances work in her favor, Swift might break the record of most VMA wins since 1984.

Part of the reason for her absence? Big life changes. The singer just got engaged to Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs for the NFL. The couple announced the happy news on Instagram last month. This took both their fandoms by a happy surprise. Swift is likely busy with the wedding planning, and enjoying the engagement before Kelce’s NFL season kicks off.

The 14-time Grammy winner gave an “official boyfriend” shout-out to Travis at last year’s VMA’s. It happened during her acceptance of the Video of the Year award for ‘Fortnight.’ Two years ago, she shocked fans by announcing ‘Midnights’ while accepting her award for ‘All too well: The short film.’ However, this year, she is keeping the spotlight elsewhere — on love, music and family.
