Taylor Swift‘s music is back in theaters — and fans are showing up.
Her newest theatrical effort, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, has dominated the box office this weekend, singing to the tune of $33 million Variety reports.
The “cinematic experience,” as the project has been dubbed, collected another $13 million at the international box office for a global total of $46 million, the magazine also noted on Sunday, Oct. 5.
Remarkably, Swift’s latest big-screen was announced just over two weeks ago and didn’t see much promotion besides her social media feeds. AMC is the distributor.
Unlike her record-breaking concert film The Eras Tour (2023), Swift’s The Official Release Party of a Showgirl is a 89-minute listening party that offers fans a look at a new music video and behind-the-scenes footage for The Life of a Showgirl.
The billionaire pop star’s 12th studio album, meanwhile, is also seeing astounding success. Not only did Swift, 35, already beat the record she set in 2024 for most vinyl copies sold in the first week (in just one day), but she is on track to take a sales record that fellow pop icon Adele has held since 2015.
On just its release day, Oct. 3, 2025, The Life of a Showgirl sold a whopping 2.7 million copies of physical and digital versions of the album, according to initial reports from Luminate, as reported by Billboard. Compare that to Adele’s long-held record for first-week album sales from her hit album 25, which sold 3.378 million copies in 2015. Swift still has almost a week to make up the ~600,000 copy difference.
The Official Release Party of a Showgirl is Swift’s second No. 1 box office debut after The Eras Tour, which opened to an impressive $93.2 million, Variety noted on Sunday.
Elsewhere at the box office, Dwayne Johnson‘s The Smashing Machine opened in a disappointing third place with $6 million, the magazine also reported. Ticket sales marked a career low for The Rock, 53, below his 2010 thriller Faster. His latest project, meanwhile, is considered to be an Oscars contender.
