TEXARKANA, Ark. – At its first meeting of the year, the Texarkana Arkansas Board of Directors voted yes Monday night to modify the operating parameters in the Entertainment District.
City Planner Jamie Finley said the issue came before the board previously. Three modifications were made following the planning committee’s workshop.
The amendment to the city code bans the consumption of alcoholic beverages brought into the Entertainment District, removes Rock House Liquor from the district, and revises the end time for walking around with alcohol from 2 a.m. to midnight.
Also, the board approved an agreement between the police department and airport authority about staffing of officers at the airport and the lease of a marked police vehicle.
Rather than the airport paying the officers directly through a contract, TAPD will pay them through the police department, thus making services more cost-effective, the board agreed.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Jan 20 at 6 p.m.
