On September 13 and 14, 2025, Guangzhou hosted the third ‘Very Thai Dien Feng Music Festival,’ a major cultural event celebrating 50 years of diplomatic ties between Thailand and China. The festival, organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in partnership with TCP Group, the producer of Red Bull, drew an impressive crowd of around 60,000 attendees. The event featured performances by more than 19 artists from Thailand and China, showcasing a fusion of traditional and contemporary music. This festival highlighted the increasing importance of creative industries in fostering cultural exchange and deepening the relationship between the two nations. With a strong emphasis on music, art, and innovation, the event not only entertained but also served as a platform for promoting tourism and cross-cultural understanding, solidifying Thailand’s cultural presence in China and providing a space for collaborative artistic expression.

Celebrating Thai Culture Through Music and Art

The festival’s theme, ‘Very Thai. Very Viral. Red Bull Goes Big,‘ brought Thai artists to the Chinese stage, offering a blend of contemporary music, drone shows, and cultural showcases. The two main stages featured performances that celebrated diversity and modern creativity. In addition to the musical acts, the event included food and lifestyle zones, providing attendees with a taste of Thailand’s rich cultural offerings. Visitors enjoyed regional Thai dishes, explored traditional crafts, and participated in interactive workshops. This immersive experience allowed the audience to discover Thailand’s culture in an exciting, dynamic environment, strengthening the cultural ties between the two nations.

Showcasing Thailand’s Must Do Experiences

TAT’s Guangzhou office curated a Thai pavilion to promote the ‘5 Must Do in Thailand’ campaign, showcasing Thailand’s diverse attractions. The initiative highlighted the country’s regional cuisine under ‘Must Taste,’ unique activities under ‘Must Try,’ traditional crafts and souvenirs under ‘Must Buy,’ hidden destinations under ‘Must Seek,’ and cultural performances and landmarks under ‘Must See.’ Visitors engaged in creative workshops, such as recycled bag making and crafting Thai herbal inhalers, which emphasized sustainability and well-being. All activities were presented under the globally recognized ‘Amazing Thailand’ brand, helping to build awareness and inspire future travel to Thailand.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations Through Cultural Diplomacy

The festival is part of TAT’s year-long program commemorating five decades of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China. Other activities in 2025 include Thai Fest in Beijing, which brought Thai culture to the heart of the Chinese capital, and the Red Bull Challenge in Inner Mongolia, promoting Thai sport and adventure travel to more than 4,000 students. These initiatives reflect shifting travel trends in China, with younger travelers seeking immersive experiences such as cultural festivals, outdoor activities, and city walks.

Tourism Perspective: A Bridge for Future Travel

The ‘Very Thai Dien Feng Music Festival’ serves as a bridge for future travel between Thailand and China. By aligning cultural diplomacy with tourism promotion, TAT is strengthening Thailand’s global image as a destination of creativity, sustainability, and meaningful travel. The festival not only showcased Thailand’s rich cultural heritage but also highlighted its commitment to sustainable tourism practices, appealing to the growing number of Chinese travelers interested in authentic and eco-friendly experiences.

Strengthening Cultural Bonds and Boosting Tourism

The ‘Very Thai Dien Feng Music Festival’ in Guangzhou showcased the power of cultural events in bridging international connections and promoting tourism. Through captivating music, vibrant art, and immersive experiences, the festival not only highlighted Thailand’s diverse cultural offerings but also reinforced its commitment to sustainable tourism. As Thailand celebrates 50 years of diplomatic relations with China, events like this play a crucial role in fostering deeper cultural exchanges. They open the door for increased tourism between the two nations, encouraging travelers to explore the rich heritage and experiences that Thailand has to offer.
