Taylor Swift is officially on the ballot for one of the most prestigious honors a songwriter can receive.
The 35-year-old superstar has been nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame Class of 2026, marking the very first time she has appeared on the ballot. If she’s elected, she would become the youngest inductee in the Hall’s history by more than a decade.
The Hall announced its full slate of nominees on October 23, placing Swift alongside major names across genres — including LL Cool J, Sarah McLachlan, David Byrne, Pink, Kenny Loggins and KISS icons Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Members of The Go-Go’s, The Guess Who and America are also in contention this year.

“Love Story” (2008)
From Fearless, this song introduced Swift as a country-pop crossover powerhouse and quickly became one of the year’s defining hits. Its modern take on Romeo & Juliet marked the start of her global superstardom.
“Blank Space” (2014)
From 1989, “Blank Space” is a showcase of her pivot to synth-pop and razor-sharp satire, and it remains one of Swift’s cleverest explorations of media narratives surrounding her personal life.

“The Last Great American Dynasty” (2020)
From Folklore, the track highlights her expanded storytelling palette. Instead of autobiography, Swift dives into historical fiction, chronicling the life of socialite Rebekah Harkness and seamlessly weaving it into her own story.
“All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” (2021)
A fan-favorite epic and one of Swift’s most critically acclaimed pieces of writing, this song from Red underscores the depth, detail and emotional architecture that define her best work.
“Anti-Hero” (2022)
The lead single from Midnights offers a raw, self-confrontational look at insecurity and self-doubt — one of the most personal songwriting moments of her recent catalog.
Only three writers from each category — performing and non-performing — will be inducted at the ceremony in June 2026.

Why Swift Qualifies Now
To qualify, a songwriter’s first commercially released song must be at least 20 years old. Swift squeaks in by months: her debut single, “Tim McGraw,” arrived in June 2006.
“This is the youngest artist to ever appear on our ballot,” Linda Moran, president and CEO of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, told USA Today. Moran noted that Swift “qualified from when she was 15 years old,” shortly after signing her publishing deal and releasing her first song. “I don’t know when we’re going to see someone that young again.”
Once eligible, potential nominees join a large list reviewed annually by the Hall’s committee, who narrow it down to roughly 12 songwriters per category. Each nominee must approve the nomination, select five representative songs, and provide materials before voting begins.
Voting closes December 4, with winners to be announced in January on CBS Mornings.
Swift has already received one honor from the Songwriters Hall of Fame: in 2010, she earned the Hal David Starlight Award, presented to promising young writers who demonstrate exceptional early talent. Swift would be the first artist to hold both distinctions if she’s inducted.
