In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the heartbeat of New Orleans was scattered across the country. Brass bands found themselves in Austin, bounce artists in Atlanta, jazz players in Seattle, each carrying the rhythms of home into unfamiliar places. Slowly, the music returned. Clubs reopened, second lines marched again and a new sound was born.
