In these dark, declining days of the human experiment, we all need to laugh. We all need that one thing that gives us miraculous comfort amidst a torrential sea of unending misery. For some of us, it’s that one show we can binge any old time. Sadly, if you aren’t subscribed to the right streaming service, that little slice of escapism is locked behind a corporation’s paywall and you’re stuck outside the gates weeping at having to face reality once more.
Well, fear not, fellow traveler on this plane of sorrow. I have come to give you a gift. You won’t need to worry about your wallet. This entire series, all 180+ episodes (and even a bunch more, potentially), are available to stream for free on YouTube. So, unless you subscribe to their YouTube Premium service, you will probably want to come armed with an ad blocker of some sort. But otherwise, it’s all there for the taking.
This is Taskmaster and it’s the most dependably delightful show in decades of television broadcasting.
Obey The Taskmaster
Taskmaster gets together five celebrity personalities (usually comedians) and puts them under the control of the devilish Taskmaster, Greg Davies. Next to Greg is little Alex Horne (the real mastermind behind the game show), his assistant and dutiful cabana boy. The panel of five contestants are presented in front of an audience as they watch various absurd tasks they performed at the Taskmaster’s house. Each episode is divided into a standalone competition which includes an opening prize task — the contestants bring in a prize according to a theme which gets judged by Greg and awarded to the episode’s winner — and a closing live task in front of the audience. The winner of the episode is crowned and the series winner (the contestant who gained the overall most points during the show) is named in the final episode of each series.
It’s a simple but infinitely entertaining format that has become a worldwide sensation. And the best part is that you can watch every episode of Taskmaster on YouTube thanks to none other than the show itself.
Watch All Of Taskmaster On YouTube For Free
The official Taskmaster YouTube channel hosts every episode of the series, including the currently airing Series 20. And if you can’t get enough from the regular series, it also hosts episodes from its international spinoffs like New Zealand. Every single one is free to watch, and if you’re a sicko like me, they even have the entire regular series completely compiled into a playlist right here.
If you are looking for a new show to binge watch in order to forget that every person of power in the world has succumbed to evil and cowardice, Taskmaster is the easiest recommendation I can make to literally anyone, age 2-200. It’s the kind of aggressive silliness that we are going to need hooked into our veins as these days continue to slide into oblivion. If everyone would just stop what they are doing and watch comedians go nuts under the thumb of a bonkers gamesman, we might actually be able to keep the mushroom clouds from appearing on the horizon.
