The year started off incredible for Miss Arkansas’ Teen Peyton Bolling who was announced the winner of the Miss America’s Teen 2025 pageant in Orlando in January. With her win, she became the first Miss Arkansas’ Teen to win the Miss America’s Teen pageant.

For those watching Super Bowl 59 in February just for the commercials, a familiar voice rang out during the second quarter for a website called HeGetsUs.com that featured Arkansas legend Johnny Cash. The commercial featured a cover of the 1989 Depeche Mode hit “Personal Jesus,” which was featured on Cash’s 2002 album “American IV: The Man Comes Around.”

Magic Springs shutting down Arkansas Twister
When Magic Springs opened for the season in May, it did so without one of its most iconic coasters, the Arkansas Twister. The wooden coaster that featured a 92-foot drop and speeds up to 50 mph has been in Hot Springs since 1992 and featured a special tribute at its entrance to celebrate the ride’s history.

Little Rock Zoo officially announces name of baby gorilla on The Today Show
In March, the Little Rock Zoo announced the birth of a baby gorilla, the first to come from a gorilla born at the zoo. When it came time to announce the gender and name of the baby, zoo officials made the announcement on “The Today Show” where they revealed the baby was named Beni, which is a territory in the North Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Kid Rock, Gov. Sanders meet as ‘Rock the Country’ Little Rock music festival set for Friday, Saturday

Arkansas hosted many music festivals in 2025, including Rock The Country, which was a nationwide tour that featured artists like Nickelback, Hank Williams Jr., Travis Tritt and Ying Yang Twins. The event was headlined by Kid Rock, who also met with Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders to discuss the event and its impact on the state.

During the first weekend of September, central Arkansas was booming as the Arkansas Razorbacks took on the Arkansas State Red Wolves at War Memorial Stadium during “Red in the Rock” weekend, which also featured a concert by Waka Flocka Flame. As part of a busy Saturday, the Arkansas Travelers played to a packed house during their final homestand, Vino’s hosted TAC wrestling and Willi Carlisle played a sold-out show at the Whitewater Tavern.
