The Braxton family has returned to reality TV with season two of their hit show The Braxtons with more drama and revelations than before. Titled “New Hustles, Old Wounds,” the first episode centers around Tamar Braxton who sits down with their niece Ashlee.
The premiere picked up amid family controversy after Ashlee claimed on social media that one of her aunt’s ex-husbands sent her inappropriate messages when she was 16. According to her, the fallout strained her relationship with the unidentified aunt.
In an effort to open dialogue, Tamar met with Ashlee and invited her to share her story on her podcast, emphasizing that she could relate to feeling unsupported by the family. “I’ve been in Ashlee’s shoes,” Tamar admitted in a confessional. “The family didn’t help me either.”
Meanwhile, Trina became emotional as she discussed the online criticism she received in the wake of Ashlee’s claims — although it hasn’t been made clear if she is the aunt in question.
Speaking candidly with Towanda, Trina expressed disappointment that Ashlee didn’t reach out to her directly, noting that she had previously offered her support. Towanda pushed back, reminding her sister that the situation affected everyone involved and suggesting that the matter should have been handled privately rather than on a public platform.
Tamar gathered Ashlee, along with close friends James and Taz, to record the anticipated podcast episode. Before the microphones turned on, Tamar led a toast and a prayer, telling listeners that “family secrets suck.” As Ashlee prepared to tell her story, the episode ended on a cliffhanger, leaving viewers eager for what’s next.

The incident that sparked the sit-down dates back to December 2024 when Ashlee, who is the daughter of their brother Michael Braxton Jr., came to social media with shocking allegations. In a two-part TikTok video, Ashlee explained that the situation began after she and her sister spent a summer with one of her aunts.
Once they returned home, she claimed the aunt’s partner started sending her sexual text messages. “When I leave her partner, her husband at the time, [he] decides to start sexting me. So, texting in a sexual manner,” she recalled. “There was nothing physical that happened. Absolutely nothing.”
According to Ashlee, it was her stepmother who discovered the texts after looking through her phone. While she didn’t name which aunt in her video, she said that her aunt was initially supportive.
“My aunt was there for me. She was very kind, very nice and was like ‘I’m so sorry that this happened to you.’ She was very kind, and it just felt safe,” Ashlee continued. “But then, as the years have gone by, it’s like that mood and that assumption that I didn’t do anything because I was a child was not that assumption anymore.”
She also admitted that the shift in energy was painful and confusing for her. “When I say all this is not a dig to my family member because it’s really sad that she also was put in that situation of having to deal and having to handle,” she added. “I don’t wish that upon anyone either. There’s sympathy there, but there’s also so many other aspects of it when you’re a child and you’re denied a voice.”
“This is not a space and place for me to trash my family’s name. It’s a space and place for me to talk about something I’ve gone through and to be able to make light of a situation that a lot of us have gone through that were completely silenced,” she continued. “And for the first time in a really long time, I just feel like I wanna help other people and I feel free.”
