It seems every holiday season we allow ourselves to prioritize time with friends and family distinct from any other time of year. We give ourselves the freedom to enjoy time together and create shared memories. So, it is this time of year that the Capitol Theatre offers up some of its most engaging and entertaining offerings, something for everyone to make the season and our time together that much more memorable.
On Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, the Reduced Shakespeare Company (the other RSC) serves up the kind of seasonal celebration that will have everyone “laughing all the way.” This comedy trio brings the “abridged” approach for which they are internationally acclaimed to this gloriously irreverent and wonderfully celebratory reflection of all that the holidays mean to us in “The Ultimate Christmas Show – abridged.”
The RSC takes us to the Annual Holiday Variety Show and Christmas Pageant at St. Everybody’s Non-Denominational Universalist Church, where all faiths are welcome because we’ll believe anything. But there’s a problem: None of the acts scheduled to perform have arrived, so the three members of the RSC are pressed into service to perform the entire Variety Show and Christmas Pageant by themselves.
Since its pass-the-hat origins in 1981, the “Bad Boys of Abridgement” have created ten world-renowned stage shows, television and radio specials performed, seen and heard the world over. They hold the record for the longest running comedies in the history of London’s West End as three of its shows ran in repertory for almost 10 years.
The company’s itinerary also included stops off-Broadway, at the White House, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Seattle Repertory Theatre, American Repertory Theatre and Montreal’s famed Just for Laughs Festival, as well as performances in Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, Malta, Singapore and Bermuda, plus countless civic and university venues throughout the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe.
Only one week later, on Dec. 18th and 19th, the Capitol Theatre welcomes the return of “Kinky Boots.” Winner of every Best Musical award, including the Tony, Grammy and London’s Olivier Award, “Kinky Boots” captivates and entertains audiences around the world with a Tony-winning score by Cyndi Lauper, book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein and original direction and Tony-winning choreography by Jerry Mitchell.
Based on true events, “Kinky Boots” follows the journey of two people with nothing in common… or so they think. The unlikely pair find that they have more in common than they realized and discover that you change the world when you change your mind.
This heart-warming story is packed with extraordinary music and is a perfect pairing for the season with RSC’s side-splitting send-up of all of our holiday traditions.
Celebrate the holidays with your friends and family by sharing an evening or two at the Capitol Theatre. These are memories that will last the whole year through and make your holidays that much merrier.
