“The Conjuring: Last Rites” marks the final time fans will see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, and they’re going out with a bang.
The film has already made its mark, earning the best opening weekend gross in the franchise and the third-highest grossing horror film ever with $84 million in the United States and $110 million in other territories.

While it will be sad to see Wilson and Farmiga leave these iconic characters behind, that doesn’t mean it’s the end of The Conjuring universe.

According to a report from Joe Otterson of Variety, a “The Conjuring” television series for HBO Max has taken a massive step forward.
The series has landed Nancy Won as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Won is most well-known for her work on “Jericho,” Marvel’s “Jessica Jones,” “Sunny,” “Tiny Beautiful Things,” “Supernatural,” and “Little Fires Everywhere.”
Additionally, Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires are attached to write for the series.
Cameron is most well-known for his work on Marvel Studios projects, including “Werewolf by Night,” “Agatha All Along,” “Moon Knight,” and “WandaVision.”
Squires also wrote for “Agatha All Along” and “WandaVision” as well as the Star Wars series “The Acolyte” and “Gen V.”

The Conjuring franchise made its debut in 2013 with the film of the same name. An instant hit, the movie would go on to inspire eight other movies, including “Annabelle,” “The Nun,” and “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.”
Across the nine movies, The Conjuring Universe has grossed nearly $2.5 billion.
