As confirmed by TMZ, Ron Dean died at a hospital in Chicago, Illinois, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, after battling a long illness, as per his partner, Maggie Neff. The exact cause of his death remains unclear right now.
“He passed at exactly 4 PM, after his beloved sisters had said their goodbyes. He hung on like a warrior to say goodbye to his little sisters,” Neff told TMZ. “Then we were alone, and in my arms, I held his hand, and he trusted me when I told him that it was alright to let go,…What an honor!” she added.
The Fugitive director, Andrew Davis, also confirmed the news of his demise and gave out a statement about his death.

Many reacted to Ron Dean’s death, including partner Maggie Neff and director Andrew Davis. Maggie Neff said about Dean’s death, “It’s hard to capture what an extraordinary human being Ron was…One glamorous woman friend of Ron’s once told me that she’d rather grab a hot dog with Ron Dean than have a fancy dinner with some rich bloke. I have always felt the same way.”
Andrew Davis, who cast Dean in seven movies, also gave out a statement about his death. “Ron Dean was my dear friend and a tremendous actor. He was the essence of what Chicago talent represented,” Davis said in the statement, “Having a very troubled youth, Ron turned his life around to have a wonderful career as a loving, decent human being and respected talent.”
Some of Dean’s memorable works include Rudy, Risky Business, The Breakfast Club, Cocktail, The Babe, Wild Things 2, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Fire, among many others.
He was not active in the past few years.
