At 81 and 79 years old, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester are the second and third oldest working royals, behind his cousin, the Duke of Kent, who is 90. Yet they are two stalwarts when it comes to royal work. If the King needs a few royals to help him at a reception or garden party — you’ll see the Gloucesters. They rarely take centre stage yet are such hard workers that they should get more attention than they do.
The duke completed an average of 18 engagements a month for the first 11 months of the year, while his wife did just under 10 a month. They are also still doing work outside the United Kingdom. The Duchess did more than 20 engagements in Denmark and Bermuda this year, while her husband did 20 in Denmark and the United States.
What is also notable is that both royals have increased their workload in 2025 compared to the previous year, with the duke undertaking around 20 more engagements while the duchess completed roughly 15 more than she did in 2024.
