Fox has officially cancelled The Great North after five seasons. The network confirmed the decision shortly after the Season 5 finale aired. Developed by Bob’s Burgers creators Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, and Minty Lewis, the show became fan-favorite for its portrayal of the Tobin family.

Fox has officially canceled The Great North, confirming that the animated comedy will not return for a sixth season. The announcement comes shortly after the series wrapped its fifth season.
In a statement, Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn expressed appreciation for the show’s creators Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, and Loren Bouchard, along with its cast and crew for their contribution. “It’s difficult to say goodbye, but we’re thankful for the five hilarious seasons The Great North brought to the iconic Animation Domination lineup,” he shared (via Deadline).
The Great North’s future was uncertain for months. The series was notably absent from Fox’s renewed multi-year animation deal announced earlier this year. The deal secured four-year extensions for The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, and the returning American Dad!. Krapopolis and Grimsburg were also continued for the additional seasons, leaving little room for the series to continue.
Co-created by Bob’s Burgers Wendy and Lizzie Molyneux alongside Minty Lewis, The Great North premiered in 2021. It quickly earned praise for its humor and storytelling. Set in the fictional Alaskan town of Lone Moose, the show followed single father Beef Tobin as he tried to raise his four children: Judy, Wolf, Ham, and Moon. While navigating the quirks of small-town life, Beef tried to keep his family close.
Across five seasons, The Great North became fan-favorite with its heartwarming tale. Though its run has come to an end, the show remains Fox’s most successful original animated comedy since Bob’s Burgers.
