PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A “once-in-a-quarter-century” celebration is coming up for Portland fans of “The Lord of the Rings.”
When the Fan Expo comes to town next year, the actors who portrayed the four original “hobbits” — Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan — will reunite in honor of the film franchise’s 25th anniversary.

“An Evening with the Hobbits: In Celebration of 25 Years” will span across 11 cities, starting with the Fan Expo’s New Orleans stop. Portland fans will be the next to experience the reunion during the second day of the expo on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
“To be celebrating this milestone – a quarter of a century – just feels abstract,” Frodo Baggins actor Wood said at a previous Fan Expo event. “It still feels like the films are really present. The fact that we’re spending this kind of time, at conventions with fans and doing shows like this, it keeps it so fresh for us. It’s such a massive, continual part of our lives.”
Tickets for the three-day Portland convention are already available. Event organizers will start selling tickets for An Evening with the Hobbits on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m.
The expo also offers tickets for VIP experiences like photo ops and autographs.
