[Partner]: The best music venues don’t just host concerts—they create environments where the experience extends far beyond the stage. Tucked beside the towering New River Gorge Bridge and surrounded by the beauty of West Virginia’s newest national park and preserve, The Outpost at New River Gorge has become one of the most unique live music destinations in Appalachia.
Located just minutes from downtown Fayetteville, WV—deemed one of the “Top 10 Coolest Small Towns in America”—The Outpost NRG occupies a rare space between accessibility and escape. Visitors can spend the afternoon exploring local shops, restaurants, breweries, and the majesty of the New River Gorge National Park before descending into a secluded creekside setting where mountain views, campfires, and open-air live music replace the noise of everyday life.
The Outpost at New River Gorge’s programming unfolds through two distinct music series. Fireside Jams offers free community-oriented performances featuring regional and local artists gathered around campfires and the venue’s Groove Shack bar, while the Groove In The Gorge series brings national and regional touring acts to the property’s intimate outdoor stage.
The 2026 Groove In The Gorge season reflects The Outpost NRG’s growing reputation as a destination for bluegrass, Americana, jam, and roots-driven artists. With Clay Street Unit and Maggie Baugh having already taken the stage this season, the series has set the tone for a summer filled with high-energy performances and nationally recognized touring talent.
That momentum continues on June 13th, when Leftover Salmon arrives with special guests Davisson Brothers Band. Fireside Collective and Coyote Rodeo will follow on July 3rd for a double dose of newgrass exported from Asheville, NC, a pairing tailor-made for the venue’s outdoor setting. Other acts scheduled for this summer include The Local Honeys (8/15), The Wood Brothers (8/29), Steep Canyon Rangers (9/5), and Grateful Dub (9/12).
The calendar stretches into late September with Keller Williams, who will bring his Grateful Grass set on the 26th, along with a free Keller Kids daytime performance. The venue has teased some high-profile names coming to The Outpost NRG on October 3rd and October 10th, and will reveal their identities at a later date. Stay tuned to the venue’s website for additional concert announcements in the coming weeks and months.

On October 17, The Outpost New River Gorge celebrates Bridge Day Festival with a free concert featuring Love Canon, adding live music to one of Fayetteville’s biggest weekends of the year. As visitors gather for Bridge Day, there’s something for everyone—from starting the morning with a 5K run to white water rafting, the Taste of Bridge Day culinary experience, and watching rappellers, highliners, and BASE jumpers take on the New River Gorge Bridge.
While the concerts may be the draw, much of The Outpost NRG’s charm comes from its setting and the opportunity to reconnect outdoors. Located in the heart of the New River Gorge at the convergence of two creeks, hiking trails, world-class whitewater rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking, ATV riding, and zipline adventures are all within reach. The result is a mixture of outdoor culture and live music that few venues can replicate.
At the campground, guests can stay in everything from traditional tent sites and elevated platforms to RV spots, rustic and premium cabins, and vintage RV accommodations. Taken together, these elements foster a venue experience that extends well beyond the stage, giving visitors and artists a place to camp, explore, and settle into the rhythms of the Gorge.
As destination venues continue to grow in popularity, The Outpost at New River Gorge offers something we all crave: a place where live music serves as the gateway to a larger experience rooted in reconnecting with community, play, and the natural beauty of the outdoors. Whether guests arrive for a concert, a camping weekend, or a day exploring the New River Gorge, The Outpost NRG lives up to its slogan: “Where Wild Meets Wonderful.”
