The PNW music scene has never belonged to one sound. Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, and the surrounding regions remain deeply connected to hip-hop, but today’s independent landscape stretches across underground rap, alternative R&B, electronic production, melodic music, and genre-bending releases that refuse to fit neatly inside one category.
Respect My Region has documented Northwest music for more than a decade. That means supporting recognized artists with established catalogs while continuing to create space for emerging names, independent releases, and records that deserve more attention than an algorithm may provide.
This latest regional roundup features new music from our Instagram post featuring Mafi D, Key Nyata, Karma Knows, Sango, AJ Suede, D Crews, HNY, and Perry Paints. We have also added Joey Kash’s new visual for “Sleepless in Seattle” and Set It Off, the full-length collaborative album from Twisted Insane and Seattle rapper Swisher Sleep.
The 2026 PNW Music Scene Stays Releasing New Music
Mafi D — “Ski Way of Life”
Mafi D opens this edition with an On The Radar performance of “Ski Way of Life,” another independent release adding to the current movement around Northwest rap.
Mafi D has remained active within Seattle’s music community through solo records, collaborations, live appearances, and connections with artists throughout the region. He also appears twice on Joey Kash’s 2025 album Rich People Are Crazy: The Sequel, contributing to “In a Row” and joining Ralphy Davis on “Underrated.”
“Ski Way of Life” gives listeners another look at Mafi D’s individual work outside those collaborations. It also represents the type of regional release this series is designed to support: new music from an artist putting in consistent work inside and outside the local scene.

Key Nyata and Bassfngrz — “EYEZSEEALOT.”
Key Nyata and Bassfngrz connected for “EYEZSEEALOT.,” released July 10, 2026.
The record arrives as another chapter in Key Nyata’s long-running presence within Seattle’s independent and underground hip-hop culture. His career reaches back to the early 2010s, when a new generation of Northwest artists began finding international listeners through SoundCloud, online communities, independent collectives, and direct artist-to-fan releases.
Key Nyata’s work has regularly moved through cloud rap, phonk, experimental production, and darker underground sounds. He has maintained that identity instead of reshaping his music around every new industry trend.
“EYEZSEEALOT.” lasts just over two minutes, giving Key Nyata and Bassfngrz a compact release built for repeat listening. The collaboration is officially credited to both artists and was released as a standalone 2026 single.

Karma Knows — “Am I the Last One”
Karma Knows released “Am I the Last One” on July 3, extending one of the more active release schedules represented in this roundup. The song follows several other 2026 singles, including “Pain in Silence,” “Patience,” “Floral,” and “I Hate Rap.” That sequence shows Karma Knows developing a sustained campaign instead of asking one record to carry the entire year.
“Am I the Last One” also arrives with a live opportunity for Eastern Washington listeners. Karma Knows is scheduled to perform at The Chameleon in Spokane on July 31 alongside Ubi, Josiah Davis, and Stay Skeemn.

Sango — RHYTHM & MELODY
Sango delivers the most expansive new project included in this edition.
Released July 10, RHYTHM & MELODY is a 20-track, two-disc album issued through Mass Appeal under an exclusive license from Sango Recordings. The project runs 48 minutes and continues the producer’s ability to connect hip-hop, R&B, electronic music, and rhythm-focused production without forcing those influences into separate lanes.
Sango has built an international audience through solo projects, collaborations, the Soulection community, and his influential Da Rocinha series. His catalog has repeatedly connected American hip-hop and R&B with musical ideas drawn from Brazilian funk and other global scenes.
RHYTHM & MELODY adds another substantial project to that catalog. The album includes records such as “BIG LITTLE LIES,” “I CALLED,” “DUET,” “HAPPY TO BE ALIVE,” and “BE THE LIGHT THAT YOU ARE.”
Sango’s inclusion also demonstrates how broad the Northwest music network has become. Regional music coverage does not need to stop at city limits or only recognize artists operating exclusively within the local club circuit. The Northwest’s musical reach includes producers and artists whose work travels between cities, countries, collaborators, and audiences.

Joey Kash Featuring Harland Griffin and Kjahn — “Sleepless in Seattle”
Joey Kash is extending the campaign behind his 2025 album Rich People Are Crazy: The Sequel with a new video for “Sleepless in Seattle.”
The record features Harland Griffin and Kjahn, bringing three artists together for a collaboration directly tied to the city they represent. The title transforms one of Seattle’s most recognizable phrases into a local rap record with its own identity.
Vivid Visuals shot the official music video, while AHOP and Mario Casalini produced the song. The video gives “Sleepless in Seattle” another opportunity to reach listeners after first appearing on Kash’s album.
Rich People Are Crazy: The Sequel was released in October 2025 and includes 16 songs across 54 minutes. The tracklist also features Mafi D, Ralphy Davis, Anthony Danza, YTS Rocky, Peace, Nottus Tre, EastHill Huey, and Mike Mack.
Respect My Region previously covered the album ahead of its release, highlighting Kash’s ability to combine ambition, street perspective, luxury, and independent hustle across a complete body of work. The new video keeps that campaign alive instead of allowing the album to disappear after its opening release window.

D Crews Featuring Christian Paige — “Not A Crime”
D Crews and Christian Paige released “Not A Crime” on July 3, 2026. The three-minute single centers on acceptance and the belief that loving another person should not be treated as a crime. Its message addresses differences involving race, gender, immigration status, and sexuality without hiding the record’s larger purpose behind vague language.
That gives “Not A Crime” a position beyond the average promotional single. It uses a direct collaboration between D Crews and Christian Paige to address issues affecting real people while still presenting the message through music.
D Crews produced the record alongside Poison Jams, according to information supplied with the release. Christian Paige is officially credited as the featured collaborator.

AJ Suede — “Strawng”
AJ Suede continues his prolific independent run with “Strawng.” The Seattle rapper has developed one of the region’s most extensive underground catalogs through solo releases, collaborative albums, producer-driven projects, physical merchandise, visuals, and work with artists from outside Washington.
Suede’s music has never depended on conventional structures. His writing, delivery, production choices, cover artwork, and larger visual identity have helped him create a recognizable presence inside independent rap.
That consistency matters. Artists working outside the major-label system rarely receive attention for the full volume of work required to sustain a career. Every new release becomes part of a larger network involving collaborators, listeners, producers, physical media, live performances, and independent platforms.
“Strawg” adds another entry point into AJ Suede’s catalog. New listeners can begin with the current record, but his larger body of work rewards a much deeper exploration.

HNY — “Decay”
HNY brings a darker alternative dimension to this Northwest roundup with “Decay.” Released April 10, the track was produced by Eery Skies and mixed and mastered by Poison Jams. Ettie Wahl shot the supporting visuals, while HNY created the cover art.
Those credits highlight the network required to build an independent release. The artist may be the name at the front of the campaign, but producers, engineers, photographers, directors, designers, venues, and local event organizers all contribute to the ecosystem surrounding the music.
HNY also connected “Decay” to Seattle’s independent performance community through a live preview associated with Pyrex Vision at HOME.team.
The release adds another texture to a list that intentionally moves beyond one version of Northwest hip-hop. The current scene includes artists exploring heavier emotions, alternative aesthetics, unconventional production, and sounds that live between established categories.

Twisted Insane and Swisher Sleep — Set It Off
Swisher Sleep joins forces with Twisted Insane for Set It Off, a full-length collaborative album released April 24, 2026. The project contains 20 tracks and runs for one hour and 13 minutes, making it one of the largest releases included in this feature. Rather than placing Swisher Sleep in a supporting role, Set It Off gives both rappers billing across the entire album.
The tracklist includes “They Could Be Dead,” “A Thousand Years in Purgatory,” “Who’s Who’s,” “Monster,” “Rap Game,” “Broken,” “Not Afraid,” and “Fair One.” Bleezo Da Protocol appears on “The Greatest,” while C. Ray is featured on “Palm Trees.”
Released through Brainsick Muzik and Swishpack Music, Set It Off connects Swisher Sleep’s Seattle roots with Twisted Insane’s established position in independent West Coast hip-hop. The rappers had already worked together before the album, including their 2024 single “Battle Tested” featuring King Iso.
Committing to a 20-song project creates a much deeper collaboration than a guest verse or one-off single. It gives fans of either artist an extended introduction to the other while establishing Set It Off as a shared body of work.

Perry Porter aka Perry Paints — “I Get High”
Perry Porter closes this PNW music scene edition with “I Get High,” a smokey stoner anthem featuring smooth vocals and a flow that really takes listeners on a weed-fueled journey. The release adds another emerging voice to a feature built around different levels of regional visibility. Sango has an international audience. Perry, Key Nyata, AJ Suede, Joey Kash, and Swisher Sleep have established catalogs.
That balance is essential when it comes to representing the Pacific Northwest.
