The Rock has joined in on the viral “What Were You Like In The 90s?” nostalgia trend.
“What Were You Like In The 90s?” is a viral social media trend. Set to the Goo Goo Dolls’ song “Iris,” the trend often begins with the on-screen text “Dad/Mom, what were you like in the 90s?” and sees users, including celebrities, sharing current pictures of themselves before transitioning to a montage of throwback images/videos from the 90s.
WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also joined in on the trend. The video he posted on X/Twitter shows his current look with his daughters Jasmine and Tiana, before moving to his various WWE moments from the 90s, and finally ending with his iconic fanny pack photo.
“Well my loves, dad earned a few scars and callouses back then.. that stuff never goes outta style. And for the love of all that’s sacred in the universe, stay far away from turtle necks,” the Rock wrote.
The Rock reveals main challenge of live-action Maui costume in Moana
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Rock and director Thomas Kail discussed the upcoming Moana live-action movie. Disney recently released the trailer for the film, showing the WWE legend’s look as Maui. Speaking about reprising his role from the animated film, The Rock revealed he wore 40 pounds of prosthetics, saying it was the biggest challenge of playing the role.
“The thing that became a challenge, that I had to work through very quickly, that I didn’t anticipate was the prosthetics and the hair and then the body. That is an additional 40 pounds on you,” the Rock said. “There’s a freedom when you perform, whether it’s as an actor or singing. So that was an adjustment on how to actually work my emotions through the 40 pounds of prosthetics and hair and body that I had on me.”
