A little veteran slowly turned his head, searching with his eyes for the royal guard he had come all the way to see at Horse Guards Parade in London. The moment his eyes finally found the guard, his small face lit up with pure pride and excitement. He walked straight up to the white line, stood perfectly still in his little uniform, and gave the royal guard a full respectful salute. The royal guard did not move at first, holding his strict disciplined pose. Then slowly, he lifted his shining ceremonial sword high into the air and saluted the little veteran right back. A silent moment of pure mutual respect between two soldiers from very different generations.
