Prince William and Princess Kate might soon be hopping the pond!
King Charles III and Queen Camilla are expected to make a state visit to the U.S. in April coinciding with the 250th anniversary of America’s independence from Britain — and according to a People report, it’s possible the Waleses will be joining them overseas.
The prospect is freaking Prince Harry and Meghan Markle out to no end, an insider tells Star, because they don’t want to be outshone in their own backyard.
“They always say they’re not looking to compete with William and Kate,” the insider says, but their actions seem to suggest otherwise.

Ever since Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, found out about the couple’s potential trip, “there’s been this frenzy on their team to line up appearance and various media placements that can run at the same time,” reveals the source, “so they don’t dominate all the headlines.”
There’s also “a lot of pressure” on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s staff to “come up with the perfect video for Meghan to share on social media” while William, 43, and Kate, 44, are in town, the source adds.
“Meghan and Harry clearly aren’t going to sit back and let them take center stage without a fight,” says the source. “They’re going to be crossing paths with them in the U.K. over the summer as well, at least if Harry gets his way, so there’s certainly some drama ahead.”
