Today, Prince William took his eldest son, Prince George, to London’s Passage Charity for a day of volunteering. The organization, which fights against homelessness through prevention programs, housing support, and food pantries, obtained a royal patronage from William back in 2019—26 years after his mother, Princess Diana, first brought him to the site in 1993.
Speaking on the charity in 2016, William recalled those early visits with his mother, and the impact it had on him as a child. “The visits I made as a child to this place left a deep and lasting impression upon me–about how important it is to ensure that everyone in our society, especially the poorest, are treated with respect, dignity and kindness, and are given the opportunities to fulfill their potential in life,” he shared.
Now, he has passed on her legacy to his own son, who joined him in preparing Christmas lunch.
Alongside images and videos from the day, the royals shared a sweet tribute to the late princess: a photo of Diana with William from their December 1993 trip to the charity. Preparing meals with the chefs, Diana wore a navy-blue blazer and matching skirt, layered over a festive green top. “Christmas at the Passage, 32 years apart,” they captioned the post.
“A huge thank you to everyone for your incredible work throughout the year and for continuing to inspire a shared commitment to preventing and ending homelessness in the UK,” the royals shared with additional images from the day of service.
In the photos, George was captured alongside the head chef, Claudette, preparing Yorkshire pudding for a classic English feast.
