With Now You See Me 3 and The Running Man opening together, their releases have quickly become major industry talking points. The new heist sequel drew attention for how it compares to earlier films in the series. The sci fi reboot also sparked discussion about its early turnout. Both movies are being watched closely as their initial performance shapes expectations for the coming weeks.

Now You See Me 3 wins opening box office against The Running Man

Lionsgate’s Now You See Me: Now You Don’t opened at $21.3 million domestically, placing first at the weekend box office (via Box Office Mojo). The Running Man debuted with $17 million in domestic revenue. Worldwide, Now You See Me 3 reached $75.5 million, while The Running Man recorded a $28.2 million global total in its opening frame.

Now You See Me 3 generated $54.2 million from international markets, including $19.2 million from China, contributing to its $75.5 million worldwide result. The film’s PG-13 rating supported its broader reach. The Running Man earned $11.2 million internationally in its opening frame. It added this to a $17 million domestic start on a $110 million production cost.

The domestic performance of Now You See Me 3 marks the lowest opening of the trilogy. The first film, Now You See Me (2013), opened at $29.35 million and finished with $117.7 million domestically (via Box Office Mojo). The second film, Now You See Me 2 (2016), opened at $22.38 million and closed with $65.07 million domestically. Now You See Me 3 stands at $21.3 million after its debut weekend.

International results for the trilogy highlight the series’ strong overseas performance. Now You See Me generated $234 million internationally and finished at $351.7 million worldwide. The sequel took in $269.8 million from international markets for a $334.9 million global total. Now You See Me 3 opened with $54.2 million internationally and $75.5 million worldwide, reflecting its overseas-driven turnout.

The weekend results placed Now You See Me 3 ahead of The Running Man in domestic and global totals. Domestic comparisons across all three films show a decline from $29.35 million to $22.38 million to $21.3 million. Worldwide, the third installment opened with $75.5 million as The Running Man posted $28.2 million globally.
