Stephen King has officially given his approval to Edgar Wright’s upcoming movie The Running Man, starring Glen Powell. The film, based on King’s 1982 novel written under his pen name Richard Bachman, has been in the works for years and is finally close to release on November 14, 2025.
And unlike the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger version, this new one promises to stay closer to the original book’s dark and gritty story. However, Wright made a few smart changes to make it work for modern audiences, especially the ending. So, while speaking with Film Stories, Wright expressed his nervousness about sending the final script to King for his approval.
