Rising Christian pop duo The Scally Brothers are quickly gaining attention for their energetic performances and faith-centered music. Hailing from Toledo, Ohio, brothers Jake and Zach Scally have turned a childhood love for music into a growing national ministry, sharing messages of hope, perseverance, and trust in God through their songs.
With their latest single “GOOD GOOD GOD” and their album KEEP HOPIN’ // KEEP DREAMIN’, the duo continues to connect with audiences across the country. In this interview, The Scally Brothers reflect on their journey from playing music in their basement to touring nationally, the inspiration behind their new music, and their vision for encouraging listeners through faith-filled songs.
Q: For readers discovering The Scally Brothers for the first time, how would you each describe your journey from growing up in Toledo, Ohio to becoming a nationally touring Christian music duo?
Growing up in Toledo, music was always a part of our home. Our parents raised us in the faith, and we were surrounded by Christian music from a young age. What started as us playing music together in our basement slowly turned into leading worship at youth groups, then Church events, and eventually larger conferences and festivals.
At first we never imagined it becoming a full-time ministry. But over time we started to see that God was opening doors for us to share our faith through music in a bigger way. After releasing our first songs and getting invited to more events around the country, it became clear that this was the path God was calling us to walk together. Now getting to travel, perform, and encourage people in their faith across the country is something we’re incredibly grateful for.
Q: Your new single “GOOD GOOD GOD” carries a strong message of faith and encouragement. What inspired the song, and what do you hope listeners feel when they hear it?
“GOOD GOOD GOD” came from reflecting on how easy it can be to lose sight of God’s goodness when life gets difficult. We’ve both had seasons where things didn’t go the way we expected-plans fell through, doors closed, and we wondered what God was doing.
But looking back, we can see how faithful He was through every moment. The song is really a reminder-to ourselves and to anyone listening-that God’s goodness doesn’t depend on our circumstances.
We hope that when people hear this song, they feel encouraged and reminded that God is still at work in their lives. Even in the middle of struggles, He’s still a good, loving Father.
Q: Your album KEEP HOPIN’ // KEEP DREAMIN’ centers on themes of hope, perseverance, and trusting God’s timing. How have those themes shaped your own lives over the past few years?
Those themes honestly come straight from our own experiences. The past few years have been full of both incredible blessings and real challenges. Building a music ministry isn’t always predictable-there are a lot of unknowns, sacrifices, and moments where you have to trust God even when you can’t see the full picture.
The message of KEEP HOPIN’ // KEEP DREAMIN’ is something we’ve had to live ourselves. There were moments when we questioned whether things would work out, but each time, we stayed faithful and kept moving forward. God showed up in ways we never expected.
That’s really what the album is about: trusting that God is writing a bigger story than we can see.
Q: Many fans say your music speaks directly to them during difficult seasons. How do stories from listeners dealing with anxiety, hardship, or loss influence the way you write and perform?
Those stories shape everything we do. One moment particularly changed how we think about our music.
A few years ago, we played a show in Wichita, Kansas for nearly five thousand people. After the concert we went back to our table to meet people, which is something we always try to do-whether it’s a prayer, a handshake, or just saying thank you.
An elderly woman named Sue came up to talk with us. She started sharing about some of the struggles she had been facing-depression, anxiety, and financial stress. But she told us that something during the concert gave her hope again. Then she said something we’ll never forget: “Even though I’m ninety-nine years old, tonight I’m reminded that as long as there is breath in my lungs, God is not done writing my story.”
At the time we were only seventeen and twenty years old, and we just stood there in awe.
That week we wrote the song “Keep Hopin’.” Sue’s faith during a difficult season reminded us of the promise in Jeremiah 29:11-that God has plans for our future.
Moments like that remind us that music isn’t just about performing-it’s about encouraging people who might be walking through the hardest season of their lives. When we write songs or step on stage, we’re thinking about people like Sue and hoping the message reminds them that God is still writing their story.
Q: Your live shows are known for their high energy, powerful visuals, and immersive production. What do you hope people experience spiritually when they attend a Scally Brothers concert?
We want our concerts to feel like more than just a show-we want them to feel like an encounter.
The energy, visuals, and production help create an atmosphere where people can let their guard down and fully enter into the music. But at the heart of it, our biggest goal is that people walk away feeling closer to God than when they walked in.
If someone leaves with renewed hope, deeper faith, or even just the reminder that God loves them and has a plan for their life, then we’ve done what we set out to do.
Q: As you continue touring and releasing new music, what is the bigger vision for your ministry and message through songs like “GOOD GOOD GOD”?
Our biggest vision is simply to keep pointing people to Christ through music.
Whether we’re playing in a church, a festival, or a small youth event, our goal is the same: to create music that encourages people, strengthens their faith, and reminds them of God’s goodness.
Songs like “GOOD GOOD GOD” are part of that mission. We want to keep writing music that speaks into real life-music that helps people hold onto hope and keep trusting God no matter what season they’re in.
At the end of the day, if our songs help someone take even one step closer to God, then we know we’re doing exactly what we’re called to do.
