EAST FAIRFIELD — On Saturday, April 25, Mary McGinnis and the Selkies will showcase the talents of veteran Vermont musicians at the Meeting House on the Green.
The Selkies — including McGinniss (vocals, guitar), Juliet McVicker (vocals, bass) and Steve Wienert (percussion) — weave melody and rhythms from the deep well of rock n’ roll, R&B and Celtic song. They play iconic classics from multiple genres with fresh interpretations of old classics as well as original music.
An undeniable Celtic spirit suffuses McGinniss’s music with an emotional resonance that appeals to audiences of all ages. McVicker has a prominent place among Vermont jazz musicians especially through her association with Pine Street Jazz and the storied Singers Circle. Among Vermont’s finest percussionists, Weinart rounds on this venerable with impeccable timing and tastefully supportive percussion.
Joining them for this show will be Bakersfield’s favorite son Will Patton on tenor guitar, mandolin and dobro.
Showtime is 5-7 p.m. with delicious light fare and desserts available. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
Admission is still only $10. Kids under 12 are free. All proceeds go toward the ongoing Meeting House Restoration Project and to support live music in Franklin County.
