The Snuts have dropped a new single called ‘Summer Rain’, which tackles themes including postnatal depression and “fear of the future”.

The track marks the first new music from the Scottish band since 2024, and sees them kick off the new year by launching into a new chapter.

‘Summer Rain’ was written after the band went through a period of reconnecting with their hometown roots in West Lothian, and overcoming obstacles in their personal lives, which they then wanted to channel into the music.

According to frontman Jack Cochrane, the song was written about the topic of postnatal depression, which is experienced by many people across the world, but rarely addressed in music.

“My wife was struggling really badly with postnatal depression,” he shared. “We had a kid when the band had just released our third album and were on tour. That’s way too much to be doing with a newborn.”

The lyrics, he explains, follow the harsh shock of reality after returning home from the touring life. “I thought that I could just fix it – that’s a classic man thing – then I had to actually grow up,” he added. “Lyrically, the song expresses the impact of change and the fear of the future, but also a willingness or plea to restart and claim back functional happiness.”

Despite the heavy themes, the song is still underpinned by themes of hope, and comes with an accompanying video that is shot by filmmaker Charles Gall in an ancient Scottish woodland and on a nearby beach. Check it out above.

The new song marks the first taste of new material from The Snuts, and the first preview of an upcoming album that they are set to release later this year.

Details about the record, which will be their fourth studio album, remain under wraps for now, although it is set to be officially announced soon. It will be arriving via the band’s own label, Happy Artist – in partnership with Virgin Music Group.

Later this year, Jack Cochrane and co. will be heading on a UK tour, with dates kicking off at the Engine Shed in Lincoln on March 12. From there, dates continue throughout the month with further stops in Leicester, Frome, Brighton, Cambridge and more.

Dates wrap up with a penultimate stop at the O2 Academy in Oxford on March 20, and conclude with a final show at the Pyramid and Parr Hall two nights later (March 22). Visit here for tickets.

The Snuts 2026 UK headline tour dates are:

MARCH
12 – Lincoln, Engine Shed
13 – Stoke-on-Trent, Victoria Hall
14 – Leicester, O2 Academy Leicester
16 – Frome, Cheese and Grain
18 – Brighton, Chalk
19 – Cambridge, Cambridge Corn Exchange
20 – Oxford, O2 Academy Oxford
22 – Warrington, Pyramid and Parr Hall

As well as a headline tour this spring, The Snuts will also be opening for Kings Of Leon at two dates on their upcoming UK and Ireland tour over the summer, and also making festival slots at Y Not 2026, and the 20th anniversary of Kendall Calling.

The band’s last album was 2024’s ‘Millennials’, which was given a three-star review by NME, with Rhys Buchanan sharing: “It’s no surprise the four-piece become an all-conquering live force in the record’s wake.”

“Taking cues from the established giants they’ve opened for in The Courteeners and Kings Of Leon, the band have found a deep emotional connection while maintaining a party atmosphere we’re all invited to.”
