Singer and actress Selena Gomez tied the knot with music producer Benny Blanco this weekend in Santa Barbara. According to Instagram, the wedding was beautiful and dreamy (to be expected), but Gomez’s hair was equally as ethereal.
The Rare Beauty founder went a romantic direction with her nuptial hair, courtesy of her longtime stylist Renato Compora. The stylist created a deep side part and an old Hollywood bob for her big day.
“In preparing Selena’s hair for a celebration of joy, unity, and love, every detail had to be perfect,” Compora tells Bazaar. His secret to creating the perfect canvas: a double wash with the Joico Defy Damage Protective Shampoo. “To ensure a flawless foundation, I began by washing her hair twice, followed by a 30-minute treatment with the Joico Defy Damage KBOND20 Power Masque. To match Gomez’s romantic Ralph Lauren gown, Compora applied the Joico JoiWhip Design Foam and worked the product in by blow-drying with a large round brush to create pin curls for a bouncy blowout effect. “I created a deep side part and continued this technique across the entire head to achieve a voluminous and polished base,” he adds. “Once cooled, the hair is noticeably shiny, bouncy, and full of life.” To add to the old Hollywood effect, he used a curling iron to create a slight wave pattern and held the waves in place for 20 minutes for a result that would last through a reception, dancing, and more. “Special attention was given to the face-framing pieces, which are shaped to highlight and enhance the facial structure,” he adds.
