One day after welcoming Vice President JD Vance to The View for an interview on current events, the cohosts staunchly criticized Donald Trump and his administration over reported developments about a deal to end the war in Iran.
Moderator Whoopi Goldberg began Wednesday’s live show with a clip packaging indicating that several Republican officials — including Trump himself — have offered vague clarification on movements related to the tentative deal, with Goldberg telling the audience that Trump is “not giving details,” before the show played a clip of Trump admitting: “Nobody knows what it is, but it’s very strong.” He later invoked President Barack Obama‘s prior deal with Iran when he said that the nation’s people thought the former president was “a stupid son of a bitch.”
Sunny Hostin, legal expert and former federal prosecutor, chimed in with a sentiment she’s long expressed in the past.

“Obama lives rent-free inside of Donald Trump’s head, because Donald Trump knows that his legacy will never be the legacy of President Obama,” she said. “He doesn’t have the smarts, he doesn’t have the class,” before adding, “He will never be President Obama even though he so desperately wants to be that kind of statesman.”
Hostin admitted that many people have had “problems with” Obama’s Iran deal, though Goldberg later pushed back on Trump’s characterization of the former president — particularly his suggestion that Iranians thought less of his intellect.
“Do better, then. You didn’t do better,” Goldberg said. “Don’t call him a son of a b, don’t do that, because you compounded a problem we didn’t have.”
Comedian Joy Behar said she’s “so sick of [Trump’s] stupidity, of his dishonor,” and criticized “the fact that he’s so incompetent at what he does [and] the fact that these Republicans stick by him no matter what.”
The View‘s interview with Vance addressed several topics, including his controversial “childless cat ladies” comment, ICE deportations and raids across the country, the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, and saw the cohosts challenge him when he stated that Trump never said that he loved current economic inflation.

When reached for a response, a White House spokesperson provided Entertainment Weekly with a general statement it has issued in the past: “The co-hosts of The View are extremely unlikeable, talentless hacks with a poorly rated TV show who clearly suffer from a severe and incurable disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome. I lose braincells [sic] every time I have the displeasure of hearing them speak.”

It should be noted, however, that The View is not poorly rated, and finished as the No. 1 daytime talk show in households and total viewers across all networks, and is actually up in viewership over last season and in key demographics, per an ABC release in May.
