Contestant Alexia Jayy was named the winner of The Voice: Battle of Champions on Tuesday’s episode.
Jayy, a 31-year-old from Mobile, Ala., was a member of coach Adam Levine’s team.
The singer stunned the coaches and the audience both during the finals with her take on Adele’s “One and Only.”
Alexia Jayy is The Voice of season 29!
The NBC reality competition crowned a winner of its latest competition — officially titled The Voice: Battle of Champions — based on votes from the audience, which was filled with winners, fan favorites, and alumni from past seasons.
Jayy, a 31-year-old from Mobile, Ala., competing for Adam Levine, secured her win with performances of Patti LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade” and Adele’s “One and Only.”
The second-place winner was Kelly Clarkson‘s contestant Liv Ciara, who surprisingly received no chair turns when she auditioned last season. Third place went to Lucas West, a member of John Legend‘s team. Clarkson’s Mikenley Brown finished in fourth place.

As for Jayy, she received praise all around, particularly from Levine, but it was her second trip up to the stage that blew them away.
Clarkson openly cried during her evaluation.
“Wow! You’re like a vessel. Girl, that was so good!” Clarkson gushed. “And you felt it.”

Legend had to fan himself.
Clarkson added that the performance had been “the therapeutic release my heart needed.”
Jayy couldn’t help but cry, too.
“Look, I love Adele,” Clarkson said. “She’s one of my favorite singers, but damn!”
The “Already Gone” singer made Alexia promise that she wouldn’t cover any of her songs.
Legend had tears rolling done his face.
“We’re just so proud of you, honestly,” the “All of Me” singer said. “You’ve just been remarkable every single time. You’ve just been a blessing to all us, so thank you.”
Levine offered her the ultimate compliment after he took a breath: “You are important, man. You make people reflect on their own life. When you tap into that, you make the world feel a little bit more together and communal. That’s really, really special. I’ve never experienced the feeling that we all just had together.”
While all three coaches had turned their chairs for Jayy during the audition, she had chosen to join Levine’s team, after her young son said on air that the kind of music he liked to listen to is Maroon 5.
Jayy said she selected the Adele song that helped her clinch the win because she used to sing it so much that it got on her mother’s nerves.
After her win, even an opposing coach, Legend, said Jayy was “constantly stunning, beautiful, magical. I’m truly happy that she won the show.”
Levine said, “I’d say I can’t believe it, but I can. There is no one more deserving of this honor.”
So while Clarkson went into the night with the advantage, thanks to an in-competition game, Levine couldn’t be denied. His victory brings his total number of wins on the show to four, tying him with Clarkson. (Coach Blake Shelton has the most overall wins, with nine.)
