The White Stripes‘ induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame could come with an unexpected twist, one that the band’s loyal fans have been waiting for since 2011.
Jack White and Meg White will be honored for their contributions to the music industry alongside Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, Salt-N-Pepa, Warren ZevonThom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, Carol Kaye, and Lenny Waronker. However, all eyes are on Meg, as music fans wonder if she will show up for her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.
In 2005, Meg admitted to Rolling Stone that she was a “reluctant rock star.” She admitted, “I’m just a very shy person,” underscoring the discomfort she felt in the spotlight.
This unease began during her early days as one-half of The White Stripes. Meg preferred to stay in the background, keeping a steady backbeat to Jack’s lyrics and driving guitar, saying, “That is my strength. A lot of drummers would feel weird about being that simplistic.”

Meg stayed out of the public eye after The White Stripes’ 2009 reunion performance of “We’re Going to Be Friends” on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Two years later, the duo announced their split in 2011, citing “a multitude of reasons, but mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band.”
In a 2014 Rolling Stone interview, Jack White admitted that his ex-wife’s aversion to the spotlight was sometimes difficult to navigate. Still, he praised Meg’s unique presence behind the drums, describing her style as “childlike, incredible, and inspiring.”
Since their split, Jack has gone on to achieve great success as a solo artist. Meg retreated out of the spotlight, preferring a quiet life.
Therefore, this leads music fans to wonder whether Meg will join Jack onstage for this once-in-a-lifetime honor. There has been no official confirmation whether or not she will attend the ceremony. However, in October 2025, Twenty One Pilots posted the following message on X, fueling speculation about a possible Meg appearance at the event.
“Meg and Jack, thanks for having us be a part of your induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. No group more deserving than the freaking White Stripes. Josh and I are working on Seven Nation Army now, and hope to give it every bit of justice it deserves.”
On Reddit, White Stripes hold out hope that the band’s long-awaited reunion may happen. One wrote, “I’m typing my dream into existence… Meg will be there AND Meg will play the drums! My hopes are Meg accepting the award with Jack. My reality is that she will probably not be there and definitely not play. But I can dream!”
A second Redditor wrote, “The most rock n roll thing for her to do would be to not show up,” while a third fan concluded, “I’m thinking no, I so badly want to be wrong though.”
Will Meg White show up at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony with Jack White? For fans, the idea that The White Stripes could reunite, even for a few moments, is already the biggest story of the year.
The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be broadcast live on Disney+ on Saturday, November 8, at 8 p.m. EST. A special highlights program will air on ABC on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026, at 8 p.m.
