Princess Anne, Princess Royal

From the moment her royal career began when she was only 18 years old, Princess Anne has maintained a dedicated—and heavy—schedule of work with charities and organisations around the world.

At current count, Princess Anne is involved with over 300 organisations either as patron, president, or member. In honour of her 75th birthday, we’re taking a look at some of her biggest patronages.

SAVE THE CHILDREN UK

One of Princess Anne’s longest standing patronages is with Save the Children UK. She first served as its President from 1970 to 2017, succeeding her mother as patron after that. She has said of her involvement: “It is an organisation that embodies a spirit of compassion, openness and excellence. Its values are an inspiration; its achievements, a source of hope for millions of children” and that she is proud to be associated with them.

RIDING FOR THE DISABLED

Princess Anne became patron of Riding for the Disabled in 1971, which supports disabled people through riding and related activities. Her association led to the creation of the Princess Royal Coaching Academy in 2021 and she supports international Commonwealth branches of the organisation in Australia and New Zealand.
