STATEN ISLAND, NY — Councilmembers David M. Carr, Frank Morano, and Kamillah Hanks are bringing live music to the borough this fall, with a four-part concert series spread out across their districts.
“Being able to launch this new concert series with my borough colleagues in the City Council was a no-brainer,” said Carr. “We’ve never had fall entertainment options and it’s still a great time of the year to be outside. We all hope to continue using music to bring everyone together as a borough.”
The new Fall Concert Series will start at Father Capodanno Plaza, on the FDR Boardwalk in South Beach, on Friday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. The featured performer is an 80’s themed DJ.
The second event is scheduled to be at the Conference House on Friday, Sept. 26 at 6:15 p.m. This event will feature Screaming Broccoli, a NYC-based cover band that was ranked “The Best Cover Band” by SILive readers in 2014 and 2016.
“Only on Staten Island can you go from Screaming Broccoli to a screaming alien in the same night,” stated Morano. “First the band rocks the Conference House, then E.T. phones home — assuming he can get better reception than most of us do on Hylan Boulevard.”
On Friday, Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m., the Stapleton Waterfront will host The Budos Band, an American instrumental band from Staten Island that was formed in 2005. Their tunes are described by AllMusic as “doom rock Afro-soul big band with a ’70s touch”
“I am especially excited to welcome The Budos Band to the Stapleton Waterfront on October 3rd, an incredible group with deep Staten Island roots,” said Hanks. “I encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the music, and celebrate the season with us.”
The last event in the series will be at Historic Richmond Town on Friday Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. The talent for the final evening is Cause and The Effects, a New York based band that has an extensive repertoire of music that spans genres.
These events are free and require no prior reservations.
